Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!!
A while back while cleaning a goldfish bowl, I decided to put the goldfish in a small pond in my yard. I figured that the goldfish would love the freedom to swim in this vast area. I then went about cleaning the bowl and its filters. When I had finished and went to gather the goldfish, I noticed they were only swimming in a circle no bigger than the 8” radius of the fishbowl.
I realized that the goldfish were stuck by invisible barriers.
In many ways we humans are like the goldfish. We develop our patterns, habits, and lifestyle which we have learned from our family, friends, and society.
I decided to gently guide the fish over to different areas of the pond in hopes that they would discover a new perspective by expanding outward. Yet they remained stuck and only swam in a limited space of only 8”. After the fourth time of moving them and seeing the same pattern, the goldfish finally broke through their invisible barrier and began to swim a larger radius of the pond based on the areas I had guided them.
Did you know that goldfish can actually grow up to 10” based on the vastness of the area they swim in?
We all have the opportunity to go beyond our own limitations–to discover new and freer dimensions. Yet all too often, we remain in our tiny corner of the world even if it may only provide us little to no joy, or just minimal personal growth and expansion.
The way to really be free and enjoy life’s gifts is to find out what your set patterns are and then to break through those limiting thoughts and invisible barriers.
We are all free spirits; not bound to anything unless we think we are.
